Face lifts enter the ‘Twilight’ zone for better results
Music legend Gary Numan is facing the world with a new look after undergoing an incredible surgical procedure.
The technique which allows patients to resume a normal life within a couple of hours of undergoing a facelift has been perfected by our plastic surgeons at Castlefield Clinic in Manchester.
There surgeons work under face lift or S-Lift procedure, said: “My entire experience at Castlefield Clinic was remarkable. On the day I walked into an extremely friendly and yet professional atmosphere from the moment I opened the clinic door.
“I went to sleep, or so it seemed, via one injection which I didn’t even feel going in and, an hour or so later, woke up in the recovery room with a cup of tea waiting. No pain whatsoever, not even minor discomfort.
“Within 45 minutes of waking up, I was sitting in the local cinema eating a hot dog and watching a film. Over the next seven days or so the swelling, such as it was, virtually disappeared, the stitches were taken out, again with no pain whatsoever, and a few days later I was on BBC TV being interviewed live by Jools Holland and no-one could tell what I’d had done. “
Gary added: “Now, a few months later, the scars are practically invisible. I was told beforehand that the change would be subtle, a clear improvement but without looking like I’d had something as dramatic as surgery and that’s exactly the way it turned out.
“No general anaesthetic but still asleep as far as I was concerned, no hospital stay, no tubes, drips, shunts or drains and, most importantly for me, no pain.”
Nishant Agarwal, the Managing Director of Castlefield Clinic said, Face-lifts have never been so popular and we make a commitment to all of our patients that we provide the best cosmetic surgery in the UK. And now, for many people, we are their first port of call.
“Working with Gary has been a privilege – he couldn’t believe that surgery would not produce massive bruising or swelling and that he could go about his normal life, literally, a couple of hours after the operation.
“I think he looks really good: there’s no scarring and the intended improvements have been a great success.”
Mr Agarwal explained that Twilight Sedation has been used at the clinic for most of their major operations since 2000.
Under general anaesthetic, patients are able to fully recover 24-48 hours but with Twilight Sedation, the recovery period is halved to within 12 hours without the need for an overnight stay. In addition, there is less bruising and swelling.
Mr Agarwal said: “This is because our surgeon must be a lot more precise and careful with his technique so as to not cause any pain or discomfort. For this reason, our procedures typically last 50% longer that they would under a general anaesthetic.”
